American Counseling Association

The American Counseling Association is the world’s largest association representing professional counselors in various practice settings. From webinars, publications, and journals to conferences and legislative action alerts, ACA is where counseling professionals turn for powerful, credible content and support. ACA is committed to sharing the Campaign to Change Direction’s 5 Signs of Suffering with at least 250,000 people over the next five years. Through volunteers, members, and staff, ACA will work to reduce the stigma of mental illness and empower people from all walks of life to embrace and nurture mental health in the same way we embrace and nurture physical health and wellbeing. ACA will share the 5 Signs of Suffering on their website, through social media channels, in one newsletter per quarter, and at their annual conference. Each year, thousands of ACA members gather at the annual conference to refine their skills and stay abreast of important topics and trends in the counseling profession. ACA staff will distribute posters and brochures about the 5 Signs of Suffering, and encourage counseling professionals to display them in their own practices, organizations, or universities. The mission of the American Counseling Association is to enhance the quality of life in society by promoting the development of professional counselors, advancing the counseling profession, and using the profession and practice of counseling to promote respect for human dignity and diversity.
